Jan Vermeer is the 5/2 morning favourite for the Epsom Derby which gets under way at 16.00 at the undulating track on Saturday.
The three-year-old colt is trained by Irishman Aidan O’Brien who also has 200/1 outsider and probable pacemaker At First Sight and Midas Touch in the twelve runner field.
Jan Vermeer is ride by Johnny Murtagh and was installed favourite in the early part of the week after it became evident that Winter favourite St Nicholas Abbey, who is also trained by the Irishman, was not going to make the trip to Surrey.
The odds seem plenty short enough and the market move of the last few days has been for Frankie Dettori’s mount Rewilding, who is vying for second favouritism, at odds of 6/1 (7.00) along with Workforce and Midas Touch. Bullet Train is a point bigger, with the rest of the field double-digit odds and bigger.
The 4to1.com team cannot see another Sea The Stars, who obliged at 11/4 carrying the 4to1.com monies, last year.
However, 33/1 chance Ted Spread is game and may well run into a place , especiallly as some of the favourites may find the Epsom track too arduous for their blue bloods.
Away from the Derby meet, the 15.40 Musselburgh offers an interesting prospect and that is the FREE tip below.
It is a classic weekend.
We have no interest in Saturday's Belmont Stakes, the third leg of the American Triple Crown, where Ice Box is the 5/1 morning line jolly.
But we are quite keen on one in Sunday's Prix Du Jockey Club (French Derby) where O'Brien's Cape Blanco and Ellie Lellouche's Planteur are at the head of the market.
Details of that selection will be available 12 noon London (13.00 CET) on Sunday.
5/1 chance HAMISH McGONAGALL looks a limited risk each way bet in the 15.40 Musselburgh
