The weekend Irish Derby at The Curragh, for which Cape Blanco is currently the 9/4 (3.25) favourite, can be classified as a major event.

We may not have a selection for the classic, but our gallops watchers have asked us to post a little alerts that a few of the nags that they have short listed are engaged to run in the next week or so.

One such thoroughbred is Deauville Flyer – who heads the bookies list at odds of 9/2 (5.50) for the Northumberland Plate on Saturday.

At those odds the value has probably gone on the Tim Easterby trained 4-year-old.
